IN FRONT OF... è un breve video sull’attenzione del guardare , sui dettagli della percezione di uno spazio sociale, l’ARTEFIERA di Bologna 2008 , dove le persone sembrano attori in un set, che ricorda quello descritto dal sociologo Erving Goffmann in La vita quotidiana come rappresentazione .
Nel video ognuno recita il suo ruolo :una ragazza guarda altrove incantata, poi si disincanta e va’ via, i due quadri diventano luogo di appuntamento di una ragazza con il fidanzato, forse si scambiano il loro primo bacio, mentre il gallerista ripete il gesto di mostrare agli ipotetici acquirenti l’autentica sul retro del quadro di Scanavino per dimostrare il valore di mercato.
E’ un video di interesse sociologico e in particolare vuole essere una lente di ingrandimento sul comportamento dei visitatori in uno spazio preciso, ovvero un luogo deputato agli interessi dell’intero sistema dell’arte contemporanea.
It’s a short video about looking (how people look and at what), about the details of the perception of a social space, the Bologna Artefiera 2008 , where the people seem like actors on a set, that brings to mind that described by Goffman in The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life.
In the video each person plays his or her role: a girl gazes around spellbound, then she seems to wake up from the enchantment and goes away, the two pictures become a meeting point for a girl and her boyfriend, perhaps they give each other their first kiss, while the man on the stand in front of us repeats the gesture of showing the hypothetical buyers the guarantee of authenticity on the back of a picture to show its market value.
We want to use this video like a magnifying glass to show the behaviour of visitors in a precise space, or rather a place that has been designated for the interests of the whole system of contemporary art.
